When I was a teenager, living in the desert, the biggest color in my life was the poppies. From San Gregonio to San Jacinto there was that time of year when the mountains were covered with snow and the poppies would explode in brilliant yellows and oranges.
Later, when I had children of my own, I would take them to this prolific flower eruption and watch them run waist high through it!
